Grandparents raising grandchildren often do so after traumatic circumstances (parental addiction, incarceration, death, abuse). The children carry significant trauma. Grandparents may be managing their own grief, physical limitations, financial strain, and navigating unfamiliar child-rearing systems simultaneously.
Yes. We host a monthly Kinship Caregiver Support Group where grandparents and other kinship caregivers share experiences, receive coaching, and find community with others who truly understand.
Yes. Our navigators can help kinship caregivers understand foster care licensing, kinship benefits, legal options (guardianship vs. adoption), and school enrollment. We provide guidance, not legal representation.
This is very common. We offer trauma-informed assessment and therapy designed specifically for children who have learned that the world is unsafe and speaking up is dangerous. Healing happens gradually and safely.
Faith is available as a resource for those who want it. Many grandparents raising grandchildren lean heavily on their faith. We honor and incorporate that faith warmly. The program is open to all.
A free 30-minute consultation with one of our clinicians can help you assess your grandchild’s needs. There is no obligation and no judgment. Many grandparents simply need someone to talk to.
Every child and family deserves care, hope, and healing. Ikon Kids is here.
