About Santa Maria Hostel
Founded in the mid-1950s, Santa Maria Hostel is one of Texas’ largest multi-site residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment centers, uniquely focused on pregnant and parenting women and their children. Located in Houston, TX, Santa Maria provides a complete continuum of care — from prevention and intervention to residential treatment, transitional housing, long-term recovery support, and aftercare.
Santa Maria’s mission is to empower women and their families to lead healthy, successful, productive and self-fulfilling lives. With 94 cents of every dollar going directly to program services, Santa Maria serves low-income and indigent women age 18 and above, along with their children, from Harris County and the surrounding 12 counties.
Their clients often face histories of trauma, criminal justice and CPS involvement, homelessness, and co-occurring mental and physical health challenges. By partnering with 130+ community organizations, Santa Maria provides a comprehensive pathway to recovery, family stability, and economic independence.
