Frequently Asked Questions

Is Christian mindfulness the same as secular mindfulness?

Christian mindfulness is grounded in Biblical contemplative practices — stillness before God (Psalm 46:10), breath prayer, lectio divina for children, and body awareness as stewardship of God’s temple. It intentionally differs from Buddhist-rooted mindfulness practices.

Can mindfulness replace anxiety medication?

Mindfulness is an evidence-based intervention that can significantly reduce anxiety symptoms and may reduce or eliminate the need for medication in some cases. Always consult your child’s physician before adjusting medications.

How do I know if my child is “doing it right”?

There is no wrong way to be mindful. Mindfulness for children is playful, exploratory, and process-focused. Even a 5-year-old quietly noticing their breathing is practicing mindfulness successfully.

What if my child has trouble sitting still?

Many mindfulness activities for children are movement-based — mindful walking, body scans, yoga-inspired stretching, and expressive movement. The program is designed for active, wiggly children.

Are parents involved?

Yes. Parents receive a weekly “home practice” card with simple family mindfulness activities (5 minutes each) to reinforce session content.

Is this program appropriate for children with trauma?

Mindfulness-based interventions are trauma-sensitive when facilitated properly. Our facilitators are trained in trauma-informed delivery. For children with significant trauma, this program runs alongside (not instead of) trauma-specific therapy.
