Financial transparency: What percentage of funds go to programs vs. overhead? 4. Leadership credibility: Are founders and leadership transparent and accountable? 5. IRS 501(c)(3) status: Can the charity verify its tax-exempt status?
Charity Navigator (charitynavigator.org): rates charities on financial health, accountability, and transparency. GuideStar/Candid (candid.org): provides access to charity tax returns (Form 990). GreatNonprofits (greatnonprofits.org): peer reviews from people directly served by charities. The charity’s own website: look for annual reports, audited financials, and outcome data.

One-time donation via credit card, check, or wire transfer. Monthly recurring giving (most impactful — provides predictable program funding). Corporate matching (many employers match employee charitable contributions). Legacy giving and planned gifts. In-kind donations (supplies, professional services). Volunteering your time and skills.
$25 provides one therapy session resource kit for a child. $50 funds one child’s weekly peer support group for a month. $100 provides a full scholarship for one child in our 8-week workshop. $500 funds one family’s complete program participation. $1,000 helps fund one week of Summer Healing Camp for a child in need.
