Absolutely not. Art therapy is not about making “good art” — it’s about using creative materials as a safe vehicle for emotional exploration. All skill levels are welcome and celebrated.
In art therapy, the creative process itself is the therapeutic tool. A certified art therapist guides children through activities specifically designed to access and process emotions, trauma, and mental health challenges.
Sessions use age-appropriate materials including watercolors, oil pastels, clay, collage materials, and digital tools. All materials are non-toxic and safe for children.
This is exactly why art therapy is so powerful. Many children, especially those who have experienced trauma, find it easier to express difficult emotions through art than through words.
Parents are briefed before and after each session cycle. For younger children (4–7), a parent-observation option is available. Artwork created in sessions belongs to the child.
Yes. Art therapy is a recognized, evidence-based practice supported by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA). Research shows significant benefits for childhood anxiety, PTSD, and emotional regulation.
Every child deserves hope, healing, and support. Let Ikon Kids walk alongside your family.
