Frequently Asked Questions

What types of loss does this program address?

We support children grieving the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent, or friend; parental divorce or separation; significant relationship loss; pet loss; and community tragedy.

At what age can children participate?

We serve children from age 5. For children under 8, a parent or caregiver participation component is included. Teens (14–18) have their own dedicated cohort.

How does faith help with grief?

Faith provides language for loss, comfort in scripture, community support, and hope for eternal reunion. Our counselors offer these resources gently, meeting each child where they are.

My child is not showing grief — should I still enroll them?

Children often mask or delay grief. Behavioral changes, academic decline, withdrawal, or irritability can all be expressions of unprocessed grief. An assessment with our counselor can help determine if the program is appropriate.

Is this program led by therapists?

Yes. All grief programs are facilitated by licensed grief counselors with specialized training in childhood bereavement and trauma.

Can the program be done virtually?

Select sessions are available via secure video conference for families outside Houston or with mobility limitations.
