Ikon Kids exists to provide faith-based mental health support to children and families who need it most — wherever they are, whatever they face.
At Ikon Kids, we hold to a simple but powerful truth: every child deserves hope, healing, and a future filled with purpose. Mental health challenges do not discriminate — they touch children in wealthy suburbs and underserved neighborhoods alike, in immigrant families and native-born ones, in homes that are intact and homes that are broken. Our mission is to meet children exactly where they are with the love, care, and clinical support they need to flourish.
Founded on Christian principles and rooted in Houston, Texas, Ikon Kids operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit delivering evidence-based, faith-integrated mental health programs to children from birth through 18. We serve families through community events at partner venues including Santa Maria Hostel and Nabor House, through free workshops, through counseling referrals, and through a growing library of family resources available in English and Spanish.
We believe the church and the community must work hand in hand with licensed mental health professionals. Faith without action is incomplete — and action without a spiritual foundation lacks the transformative power that changes lives permanently. This is the Ikon Kids difference.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”— Psalm 147:3 (NIV) — The scripture at the heart of everything we do
Every program and interaction is grounded in Christian values of love, grace, compassion, and service. We believe spiritual wellness and mental wellness are inseparably linked.
Our programs integrate peer-reviewed mental health research with scripture-based healing. We believe faith and science are partners, not opponents, in children’s healing.
We go where families are. Monthly events at Santa Maria Hostel, Nabor House, and partner churches bring healing into the heart of Houston’s underserved neighborhoods.
No child should be denied mental health support because of cost. Our programs are free or low-cost to families regardless of income, immigration status, or background.
We don’t just treat children — we equip entire families. Parents, grandparents, caregivers, and siblings are all part of the healing journey.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we operate with full financial accountability. Every dollar donated directly funds programs, not overhead. We publish our impact numbers openly.
We believe the best time to address children’s mental health is before a crisis emerges. Our workshops, school partnerships, and parent education programs equip families to recognize warning signs early and respond with faith and skill. Early intervention reduces the lifetime cost — financial and human — of untreated childhood mental health conditions by up to 80%.
Ikon Kids does not operate in isolation. We partner with established Houston institutions — including Santa Maria Hostel (serving women and children since 1978) and Nabor House Community Center (serving the Near Northside since 1961) — to bring mental health services directly into trusted neighborhood spaces. Families come to places they already know and trust; we meet them there.
Our counseling referral network connects families with licensed Christian counselors and therapists trained in trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and faith-based healing modalities. We bridge the gap between the church pew and the therapist’s office — affirming that seeking mental health support is an act of courage, not weakness.
Children’s mental health begins in the home. Ikon Kids invests deeply in parent education — from monthly workshops at partner venues to our growing online resource library available in English and Spanish. We train parents to recognize ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and depression symptoms and connect them with the right support before these challenges escalate.
There are children in Houston right now who need hope. Your partnership — through prayer, volunteering, or a tax-deductible gift — makes that possible.
